Personally, I have mixed feelings about calling Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre as JRPGs. I prefer to call em SRPGs now.
But whatever, they are also my favourite and I played both series on PSX and the newer versions on PSP (The War of the Lions & Let Us Cling Together). 
Grandia 2 is on PS2, so I didn’t mention it.
Breath of Fire IV and Vandal Hearts were good, but not my favourite.
You should try Parasite Eve series.
Another game that i enjoyed a LOT is Einhänder. It’s not a JRPG, but it’s great.
Edit: You know about Dark Souls, right? Well, the PSX has one, made from From Software too.
It’s called King’s Field. If you can tolerate the graphics and (sometimes) silly controls, you’ll find yourself in a nice and dangerous environment full of dangerous enemies and traps.

Did you ever play Brigandine? Great game similar to front mission 3 and tactics but was obscure.
Sengoku? It’s something like Sengoku Basara? This game ain’t jrpg, but still pretty funny :D~!
Hahaha guys, some of this games I knew… I even played some of them but most of them are new for me… I will have to check animes and games you have gave me… IT will take some time. Well seems like I won’t be bored waiting for ToS to release :D!
btw. do you think we are allowed to disscuss on the forum more mature topics? Like politics, etc.

Usually yep :D… and usually such topics are prohibited, that;s why I was asking… still you can do pretty nice disscusion about such a things if you only know the limits and don’t auto-hate everyone that has other opinion.
Didn’t know that one, gonna take a look, i do like that style of tactical RPG, specially mecha ones with upgrades and what not lol.

That is the problem, who knows the limit? I never saw any topic like politics or religion end up peacefully lol.
I sometimes talk about such things on polish board and there are no problems, really!

This isn’t exactly in PSX/PS2/PC, it’s in DS but you can easily use emulator. I highly recommend it for the storyline and memorable characters, personally it’s one of my favorite game of all time:

Omg yes! I loved this game so much, maybe mostly cause it has the highest nostalgy factor of all games I’ve ever played since it was the first game I ever owned. Hands down one of my favorites ever.
Yeah I loved it as well too bad it was just so much easier than the first one and I can’t say agreed on every change they made, I definitely liked the first one more but it was really nice as well.
Can agree on most of the games mentioned here.

If you’re into tacticals, Fire Emblem and Luminous Arc (WHICH NOBODY PLAYS LORD) are good series. Luminous Arc is sort of ridiculously easy with simple storylines but hehh my guilty pleasure, & of course disgaea. which I actually don’t like as much for whatever reason, but it’s a good series.
Also, the Tales of series is one I surprisingly don’t see being mentioned.
Amazing titles in this thread, if I bothered to second some of those games I’d basically be quoting the thread.
Just to add to some psx glory for tactics though Vandal Hearts II (nifty but exploitable combat system that was a little too easy with their simultaneous turns, but a rich political/religious story line), I removed the others because Nirimetus and Erokhi beat me to them lol
Oh, and there can only be one Patapon 3. Laugh if you will, and it’s not a jrpg as requested, but that game is freakishly amazing. Seriously.
But if I had to say anything of story it would be as mentioned before, Suikoden II. Divine.
