It is true that IMC is doing some good work banning bots and gold sellers but the core of the issue is the gold buyers.
The bots are automatically recreated when banned, the gold sellers are just random characters that collect and sell the silver. Every time they are banned, they recreate new characters to do the job and this will be easier when the game will go free to play.
Now the issue is that the gold buyers are the ones that inflate the economy and make it really hard for casual/normal players to keep up with them.
I know it is harder to ban Gold Buyers but they can be easily detected using the following :
- Sudden increase in Silver on their accounts.
- Cheap Item sold in the market with an unusual high price.
- Interaction with Gold Sellers (ex: PM, buyer/seller on market)
[Suggestion]
Now Gold Sellers and Bots use farming mobs as a main source of income. It is easy to create a bot and just kill infinite number of mobs and collect the silver gained.
The reason for this is that mobs drop silver.
The solution for this can take time to apply but it is simple :
- Remove Silver from mob drops.
- Lower heavily the price of items sold to NPC.
- Since removing silver drop from mobs will create a hole in silver income for other players, make quests give high amounts of silver in higher levels instead. Make dungeons harder but give more rewards on boss kills.
- Of course, disable shout for people under 150 will help but every gold buyer knows how to buy silver currently (website etc…)
This will make the life harder for a gold seller to use bots as Way of income.
