Its funny watching people continually post these as if it really matter. NCSoft games like Aion have had far less for several years and still carry on. The game still can go forward, and it can still be a good year for those who actually enjoy the game.
Hell, vast majority MMOs have been watered down to the point people could be replaced by NPCs and no one would noticed because the social aspect is long gone ever since introduction of instanced matchmaking. As long as the spice is flowing for IMC, those numbers mean squat.
If there was matchmaking for challenge mode that would be perfect

it’s funny to see how the player curves for the past 2 weeks of PoE and TOS have an opposing trend, with PoEs active playerbase declining while TOS’ playerbase increases xD
I guess the remaining players from TOS have less private life and more addiction to the game than the PoE players (that or the amount of players that came back for Rank Resets was larger than the one leaving for holidays).

-steps back in for a second- - realizes people are sstill hopelessly addicted to grinding high level gear- -also sees people arguing for removing personal gear in pvp- -notices pvp is still not balanced after a year, and people still have hope (addicted to adding +1 to gear)- -steps back out
