Cataphract stat allocation

Actually, only crit rate falls off, evasion stays, that’s the whole point of DEX. I never said DEX build would out damage STR build though.

And you can still crit 40-50% of the time at level 280, which is quite ok if you ask me.

A level 250 rank 7 swordman with exactly 60 CON (42 points invested) and nothing else have 19k HP

If you add plate mastery and a couple of 700 HP hair accessories, that would easily raise to 23-24k HP. Not to mention plate pieces usually have HP bonus

And if you have the luxury of pentamion or max pentamion it adds even more.

So I wouldn’t call 60 CON glass cannon.

sigh… 19k of base hp is low at everything, going dex for evasion is a waste of stat because mobs wouldn’t miss that much, stuff from storage and abbey do not miss, granted you could still crit those mobs, yet in pvp you wouldn’t even see a crit in anything that has con or aias, that’s why archers reset their stat later and go str con and 50 dex, considering that their skills boost evasion to insane levels with 150 dex and still get hit and killed (and they are a class that attak at range).

so in summary, do what you like there is no best way

Eh, 150 DEX is hardly insane, that gives 150 Evasion, plus 75 from max leather mastery, plus 25% from swift step, that’s still less than 300 evasion

yeah being lvl 2xx and rogue only hit “300” of evasion, dude i’m over 260 that’s why i’m telling you this.

My 140 scout has close to 400 evasion, without leather mastery, that’s why I tell you 300 is hardly phenomenon.

I don’t play kTOS but some of my friends do, and most of them who play archers tend to have around 180-250 DEX depending on classes.

There is also no baseline of stat, just some general consensus: get at least 25-30k HP by whatever mean it needs, on any classes.

The game is still changing, so most likely you will need to reset sooner or later.

don’t you get it? a rogue with over 700 of evasion get rekt with higher level mobs, if you want a stat for “survival” get con not dex.

i’m not saying that, i’m only claiming that con is better than dex, having more hp is better than packing flee when you will not be able to dodge.

I think you meant “Get HP”

I agree on getting more HP, by any necessary means, but CON is not the only way to do it.

^This. Specially for Catas.

For OP, well my advice is that, yes there are guides out there, but that doesn’t mean you have to strictly follow it. There is no cookie-cutter PVE or PVP build. Sooner or later meta will change.

With regards to stat allocation, let’s take it as percentages and no fixed value. Basically it’s gonna boil down into 60-80% STR, 10-20% CON, 30-40% DEX since you specified for PVE. Now why are we talking in percentages? Well first of all you have to take into consideration these factors:

  • At Rank 7, you gain a total bonus of 60% STR (10% additively per Class Rank up)
  • As a Cataphract (or any mounted class), you gain these bonuses while MOUNTED on your PET (with the PET having AT LEAST 1 stamina)
    • 8% of your pet’s EVASION
    • 20% of your pet’s DEFENSE
    • 25% of your pet’s HP

You might be thinking those are small, but they aren’t. AFAIK there is no hard cap to training pet attributes (as long as you have the money). Basically you’re gaining free stats from your pet. Much more reason to invest in very little to no CON.

You don’t need too much of DEX, just a sweet spot for you to be able to hit and crit regularly at the same time. There’s a difference between going pure STR vs pure DEX.

I myself am rolling 0 CON, with proportions of 70% STR 5% CON 25% DEX

How about Cata3 for pvp? Is 100STR, 100CON rest in Dex good?
