Need help with gems. I am trying to build my items now, but I would like to know if level 2 and up gems are obtainable through monster drops or should I start collecting level 1 gems to be forged to higher tier gems?

I’m quite sure I got a level 2 Green Gem today, just a little while ago. I believe it’s droppable. ^^
They are dropable 100%. I got a few in +200 lvl map.
I got both lvl 2 and 3 gems for higher lvl monsters, but there are no point in waiting for them. Lvling up a gem to lvl 5 is easy.
Best way to lvl gems are to use all the materials you get from hunting. Just make sure you dont use anything that you need for a recipe later.
Looking up the item on tosbase is a good way to know if its useless or not.
And as a last tip, always use the gem roasting services you see in town to remove the negative effects on the gem before you put it in an item.

Low chance, but it’s still obtainable. Though, depending on where you are in the game, you can try to get Gem Abrasives which boast large amounts of Gem EXP. I forget the map’s name, but you can get a few a day through a certain minigame in one of the 200+ maps.

There are several ways to get gem abrasives, including high quality ones from a couple gimmick quests (stone of request in nahash forest). Level 3 gems drop from lv250+ maps at a decent rate, but there’s no point as mentioned above, just farm any mats in high spawn areas with high drop rates (drakes in sicarius drop meat and sulfur, seedmia and other mobs in tenet garden where you get constant spawns, even bees work well). It only takes about 14k exp total to get a gem from level 1 to 5, and each mat adds 5 exp, so you only need around 2800 mats per gem. Heck, you could even do what I did and sort market by lowest price and buy 100-120 silver mats, total cost for a lv5 gem is around 300-350k depending on what’s on market at the time

Anyone has get a lvl 8 gem or above? It seems pretty difficult.
I saw some in beta, when monster gem droprate was much higher and you could trade them. People were buying monster gems en masse just to upgrade normal gems.
Demon Prison District 2 mobs drop lvl 2 green gems and lvl 2 yellow gems, as long youre grinding here at like lvl 150+ you should get a lot of them.
Evacuation mobs drop lvl 3 green gems and again, once you grind here at lvl 228+ you should have a couple by lvl 240.
But by then just go to the “2nd Demon Prison” hit the chest and get all color gems then buff them with bought Mats @ 100 silver or Monster gem abrasive daily game.
Thanks dude. Other question, why people dont trade/sell/buy high level gems, normal gems are untradable? I have never see someone selling a normal high level gem.
Gems lose 1 level when you unsocket them, so it’s not remotely worth it. Better to buy equipment you want with gems in it, or level your own gems.
