[ADDON] LKChat (Alpha)

Hey, so I’m having an issue installing this mod. No matter what I extract it with, 7zip or Winrar or what have you, the filename can only be read as #U2697lkchat.ipf, or instead of the #U2697 it will be an empty rectangle. Even if I try to copypaste the odd symbol into the filename, it just turns into the rectangle and the mod won’t work at all.

I’ve tried looking up how to enable special characters in filenames, but haven’t come up with anything, and both myself and my friend are having this exact issue. Does anyone know how to get Windows Explorer to recognize that odd symbol?

Rename the file to ⚗lkchat.ipf and it should begin working correctly. People have reported issues with some zip programs from time to time.

The problem is, I can’t rename it to :alembic:lkchat.ipf because the :alembic: just turns into a rectangle, and it makes the file not work properly.

What version of windows are you running and language if at all possible?

Frikkin’ perfect! Thanks for creating this.

Lemon, does it really needs to have a symbol on the filename? lol

We’re both running Win7 64-bit, and while my system locale is set to Japan just to prod at foreign games, my friend who’s having the same problem has his locale set to American English. I’m gonna set my locale to English (Canada) as that’s where I am, and I’ll see if that fixes things. Is there some other language setting I should be looking for?

Yes, the symbol has to be there. You’re free to remove the symbol and try to run ToS that way too but you’ll see why.

Ok, I changed my system locale, but it still doesn’t seem to recognize the alembic symbol in windows explorer. We both have our keyboard language set to US English, and a system locale of English (Canada) and English (US) between myself and my friend.

Try this: http://superuser.com/questions/336197/unicode-characters-suddenly-start-displaying-as-boxes-in-some-applications

Hmm. I dug around that link and another article attached to it, and tried the things it recommends - disabling “Hide fonts based on language settings”, putting a file on the desktop with a unicode character on it so that Google Chrome doesn’t disrupt the unicode settings, uninstalling Google Chrome entirely, changing my system locale… For some reason, Windows Explorer still does not recognize the alembic symbol as anything other than a rectangle.

I also looked into the “Find a Character” menu on the Fonts menu in the Control Panel, and it doesn’t seem to have the alembic symbol at all, there’s no entry for U-2697. Do you know if there’s a way to repopulate a unicode library?

So, it seems like very few fonts even show the alembic symbol as what it is, instead of a generic rectangle. I and my friend both have fonts that show it, Deja Vu Sans Condensed and Deja Vu Sans Mono, and I was able to look up the alembic symbol in those fonts. Now the question is, can I get Windows Explorer to use one of those fonts?

Okay, so it may have been a moot point. Even with the character showing up on my fonts, I loaded up Tree of Savior (steam version, if that makes a difference?) and still don’t see any extra chat options, and nothing happens when I type /lkc or /lkchat. So, maybe it’s something else entirely?

Edit: The file is in the /patch/ folder with the proper name, confirming that I doublechecked that the basic installation instructions were followed, just to get that out of the way.

Edit 2: I forgot to mention that I found a way to switch the font Windows Explorer uses, and switched it to Deja Vu Sans Condensed, so that the alembic symbol showed up in the filename. As mentioned above, it didn’t seem to help, as the chat commands and options menu aren’t showing up.

Have you tried renaming the file or using another unicode symbol? http://www.utf8icons.com/subsets/miscellaneous-symbols/

Hmm, I tried another unicode symbol from that page at random, and the chat commands still don’t seem to work ingame. I also found there was a similar folder under /release/patch/ but putting the .ipf file there didn’t work either.
