About servers for games.. Lets clear up some misconceptions

IMC does not have their own servers and the reason they crash is not what you think.

Tree of Saviour is hosted on the amazon server farm which looks much like this…

Thousands upon Thousands of shards and tree of savior is just a few of these. The reason the server crash’s has nothing to do with the server itself and everything to do with the way the client is processing its traffic and connections.

Quite simply the source client just cannot handle the amount of traffic and crashs and needs to be restarted manually by IMC staff logging into their respective servers and restarting it.

Are we all living in the Database?

I have to add some words here.
The heavy traffic source was mostly come from unanticipated numbers of restricted region users, which clearly made the expected count to raise significantly.

Wow. Look at this logical guy going all… logical.

It’s clearly the GM’s fault! GMs why is it so laggy? WTF!

i blame the developer for not doing a good job in code optimization :stuck_out_tongue:

Well that’s a valid claim, but blame game gets nobody nowhere and they just have to keep working on it

yeap, my biggest concern now is when F2P… we will need to “All Hail Commander” every single day @@

Code optimization? This is not software, this is networking problems.
In case you know how ddos works, then you’ll understand what is happening right now.

fixed that for you buddy

So you’re saying, their office looks like

and their servers look like

This is pretty much right, apart from the fact its the networking “code” which is being bottle-necked somewhere and the client does effectively get ddos from packet overload and shuts down.

So yes its a networking issue but also a code issue

There is a big difference between police officer and electrical engineer.
GMs is police officer, handle the in-game rules.
While the development team from IMC is electrical engineer, handle the connection problems and bug in game.

Note to self: Put /s when conveying sarcasm.
