With the addition of new skills across various classes, I noticed that many class now have 8 skills and some even have 9 (eg. Rodelero). Some of the classes that haven’t had any additional skills (eg. Hoplie) still have only 6 skills.
Do you think this is a bit excessive, considering if you want to max out the skills that you choose, you can probably only do so for 4-5 skills? Not to mention there will be some skills that will be more popular and get chosen over others, making some of these 9 skills redundant? A bit of trial and error and some videos / descriptions is all it takes to figure out how “useful” a skill is.
I’m not complaining, the more skills they put up the better. Doesn’t matter if certain skills are better than others at some point, they will balance them out. I can’t see the problem, imo the more skills classes get, the more variance we will have in builds.
You don’t need to worry too much, IMC is doing what they can, and continues balance is part of it.
Pretty sure other class will be buff as well in the future, you just have to trust them
I actually really like it. Gives more choices upon the large amount of choices we already have. Not only can our class build to Rodelerio be different, but now our Rodelero class can be different as well. Maybe you want to shove all your points into overheat skills for damage, or spread everything out for a wide array of CC. The choice of compacting your skills is still there, now you just have a choice of having more.
Although, I do see your point. It might be a growing issue once we have 8+ ranks and have to manage a bunch of skills. Some skills may then become outclassed, and you don’t want to pay real money for a reset, or you just have too many buffs and the buff limit is really making you pick your favorite ones. We can only sit back and hope everything works out for now.
I agree, I would actually prefer more skills than less, it’s gives people a way to customize their character in the game which is awesome, people won’t be the same necro or linker as another person which gives the game diversity.
It’s not really, you have to make some important decisions.
For me it’s quite easy, here’s how I distribute skills:
- Highest damage/lowest CD.
- Most Charges.
- Applies a status effect.
For rodelero it was quite easy, a lot of the new skills aren’t that great in terms of damage but do apply a status, so 1 point is good enough.
But again, it’s all player choice and tough decisions. You don’t have to or should even bother getting every single skill you possibly can.
I like it.
More choices also means that more people will build their characters suboptimally. But since this game strives to have each class remain unique in their own way, more skills added into the pool also means new mechanics being added.
Looking at all the skills, this just translates into more fun, possibly more skill combinations and it gives you a good reason to create the same class more than once.
If you are being handed everything as it is supposed to be and don’t have to make any choices with the skills, then you will also miss out on a lot of the fun that comes with seeing the different players giving their differing playstyles a catalysator in the form of their skill tree.
It doesn’t automatically have to mean that some of the choices you can make are wrong by default. It’s the job of the ones in charge of the balance to see to it that such dead end choices are taken care of.
Skill effects are a major point in choosing the skill. Like Peltasta Rim Blow vs Umbo Blow, you’ll always choose Umbo blow if not both for a combo attack (if the tool-tip is correct in that it does more to frozen enemies)
For Rodelero however, the skills are so diverse, it’s actually nice to see 9 skills because they each do such different things and Rodelero seems like a very attack heavy class for a shield class. … I’d also choose High Kick just because it shows a person kicking a Kepa
Skills should each have slight different aims/purposes/niches or cater to gameplay styles, wich is the whole aim for differentiation anyway (so glad this game is going for that, you all know how tired I am of carbon copy MMOs =P).
In the matter of skills that are"best" and most used, ideally it calls for insta patch and better balacing, no skill should ever be by a long shot better than the others, if its slight better thats no problem, most players will gladly sacrifice the slight part to follow their own gameplay style.
